Privacy Policy – You Might Like

This privacy policy describes how the app You Might Like (“we”, “the app”) handles information when you use our iOS app.

1. Data stored on your device

Most of your data never leaves your device:

• Items on My List (names, star ratings, reviews, top-pick flags)
• Items in your Backlog
• Items you mark as Not Interested

This data is stored locally on your iPhone or iPad using Apple’s SwiftData. We do not have access to it unless you contact us and choose to share it (e.g. for support).

2. Data sent to our servers

When you use these features, the app sends data to our backend to provide the service:

• Recommendations (“Recommend Me Stuff”): We send the media type and the names (and optionally ratings) of items you’ve rated, items in your backlog, and items you’ve marked not interested. This is used only to generate personalized recommendations.
• Taste analysis (“Analyze My Taste”): We send the media type and the names and ratings of items on your list. This is used only to generate your taste summary.

We do not use this data to identify you personally. We do not require an account or login.

3. What we do not do

• We do not sell your data.
• We do not use your data for advertising or third-party marketing.
• We do not require or collect your name, email, or other account information in the app.

4. Third-party services

Recommendations and taste analysis are powered by our own backend. That backend may use third-party AI or infrastructure (e.g. cloud providers). Any data sent there is used only to fulfill your request and in line with this policy.

Apple may collect data as described in the App Store and Apple Privacy Policy when you download or use the app. We do not control that collection.

5. Children

The app is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided data through the app, contact us and we will address it.

6. Changes

We may update this privacy policy. The “Last updated” date at the top will change when we do. Continued use of the app after changes means you accept the updated policy.
