Steps Journey is built to keep your information private. The app has no servers, no account or login, no analytics, no advertising, no tracking, and no third‑party SDKs. Everything you see in the app is calculated on your device from data Apple Health already stores there. Your health data never leaves your device through this app, and we — the developer — never see it, receive it, or have any way to access it.
We do not collect personal data. The sections below explain exactly what the app reads on your device versus what (if anything) it collects, because under Apple's rules those are different things.
Steps Journey ("the app", "we", "us") is an independent iOS app developed by a solo developer. If you have any questions about this policy or your privacy, contact us at:
Email: akiratoriniku@gmail.com
This policy applies to the Steps Journey app and its Home Screen and Lock Screen widgets.
To show your activity, the app asks your permission to read the following data from Apple Health (HealthKit). The app only reads this data — it never writes, adds, edits, or deletes anything in Apple Health.
The app requests access in two stages, so it only asks for what a given feature needs:
Requested when you first set up the app (for the core step experience):
Requested only if you open the Health Correlations screen:
You grant this access through Apple's standard Health permission screen, and you can review or revoke it at any time in Settings → Privacy & Security → Health → Steps Journey, or in the Health app → Sharing → Apps. Apple controls these permissions, not us. If you deny or revoke access, the related features simply won't show data.
What we do with this data: All processing happens locally on your device. The app uses this data only to display your steps, distance, flights, trends, charts, streaks, achievements, recent walks, pace and end‑of‑day projections, the "Your Year in Steps" recap, and on‑device correlations between your steps and your sleep, resting heart rate, or weight. None of it is ever transmitted off your device by this app.
We do not use HealthKit data for advertising, marketing, data mining, or any use other than providing the app's features to you, and we never share it with third parties — consistent with Apple's HealthKit requirements.
So your widgets and trends load instantly, the app saves a small amount of information locally on your device only:
This information stays on your device. It is not backed up to our servers (we have none) and the app does not store any of your health information in iCloud. Deleting the app removes this locally stored data.
We do not collect, transmit, sell, rent, or share any personal or health information. Specifically, the app:
Because nothing is transmitted off your device for us to access, there is no personal data for us to collect, store, or lose.
The app includes optional features that let you share your own information using Apple's standard share sheet:
These files are generated on your device and are only shared if and when you choose a destination in the iOS share sheet (for example, Messages, Mail, Files, or another app). We never receive these files. Once you hand a file to another app, that app's own privacy policy applies.
Steps Journey offers a single one‑time "Pro" unlock (a non‑consumable in‑app purchase — there is no subscription). Purchases are processed entirely by Apple through the App Store using StoreKit. We never see or receive your name, payment‑card number, or billing details — Apple handles all of that. Apple's handling of your purchase is governed by Apple's Privacy Policy. Your Pro status is stored locally on your device and verified through Apple's standard purchase‑entitlement system.
Steps Journey is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect any personal information from anyone, including children under the age of 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your jurisdiction). Because the app collects no data and has no account system, it does not gather information about a user's age or identity. If you believe a child has somehow provided information through the app, contact us — though, by design, there is no such information for us to hold.
Because all of your data stays on your device and under your control, you can exercise full control at any time:
We hold no copy of your data, so there is nothing for us to delete or return on request.
Your information is protected by your device's own security — including the device passcode/Face ID/Touch ID and iOS's built‑in encryption and app sandboxing. HealthKit data is protected by Apple's Health permission system. Because no data is transmitted to or stored by us, there is no server‑side database that could be breached.
If we make material changes to this policy, we will update the "Last updated" date above and post the revised policy at this URL. Because the app collects no data, changes will typically reflect new on‑device features rather than new data practices. Continued use of the app after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
